The T-34 is a Soviet-made medium tank that was produced between 1940 and 1958. The T-34 was developed from the BT series of fast tanks and the Christie M1928 with sloped armor, with the intention of replacing the BT cavalry tank and the T-26 infantry tank. Following the limited success of Soviet tanks in the Spanish Civil War, their lack of armor became a significant weakness.
